Most of his books speak about how some small changes in farming practices can lead to a more sustainable farming. He discusses various topics such as making compost, controlling pests, making medicines and other health-related topics, rotations in livestock farming system, organic fertilizers, sustainable farming in India, pitfalls of chemical dependence and other.
At first, Palekar supported the use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural applications because of the hope that it would help in the production of higher yields, and reduce potential social problems, such as soil erosion.
Palekar said, \"Once we create awareness about the importance of food security, millions of poor people will opt for natural farming, which will result in reduction of Post harvest losses and bringing back the normalcy of farming practice in the rural areas\".
A wide-ranging CSR initiative by Palekar, World Malnutrition Day 2017, was undertaken with the objective of reducing malnutrition among tribals children through Zero Budget Natural Farming. An action plan was formed to reduce malnutrition in tribal children, with supporting organisations like UNICEF, Stree Shakti and World Nutrition Campaign, FSSAI and Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (SARI.) 7211a4ac4a
